You can get a basic strategy chart online, and then play Blackjack at home on the computer or with real cards as you begin to memorize basic strategy. Once you begin playing on a regular basis at a live Blackjack table you will find yourself consulting the chart less and less as you begin to learn by memory how to follow basic strategy. Basic strategy will also tell you when you should "Double Down? on your bet. You must always follow basic strategy when playing Blackjack so that you limit the house advantage to give you the best possible shot at coming out ahead. Card counting is dead nowadays. In the past people would run a count in their head, and could tell when the remaining cards were "rich in tens?. The more face cards and tens in a deck that are left, then the more advantageous it would be for the player. In the past when the running count showed a "rich in tens? deck remaining then players would increase their bet.
